Bowls, croquet and golf to benefit from Devonport Country Club development
The development of the new Devonport Country Club has commended, the $8.5 million facility to combine the functions of the Devonport Bowls and Croquet Club, Devonport Golf Club and Spreyton Bowls Club.
Located at the Devonport Golf Club, the combined development aims to develop each of the partner sports.
Aimed at attracting national competitions and encouraging participation among local residents, the project includes a new state-of-the-art indoor bowls centre, which will allow bowling club members to bowl all through the year, as well as two croquet lawns, three outdoor bowling greens and upgrades to the golf course.
In addition, the Clubs’ new two-level clubhouse will feature a club bar, bistro and function centre.
The Federal and Tasmanian Governments have each made commitment of $3.5 million to the project.
Commenting on the development, a Devonport Golf Club spokeperson advised “this project shows the great benefit that can come from working together and sharing resources.
“The timing of this project is perfect - coinciding with an exciting growth phase for this end of the Coast, with more investment, jobs, visitors and new people coming to live here who will be looking for the sorts of social and sporting opportunities this Country Club will provide.”
