Boroondara parklets to remain until 30th September
City of Boroondara has advised that parklets currently installed in Boroondara’s shopping centres will now remain in place until 30th September 2021 with these pop-up outdoor dining spaces having created new opportunities for hospitality businesses to accommodate more customers in a COVIDSafe manner.
COVID-19 restrictions continue to impact the local business community, and notwithstanding Victoria’s easing of lockdown conditions from tonight, the City of Boroondara are proud to fund the extension of these parklets for an additional two months.
To date, Council’s Outdoor Dining program has played a significant role in recovery efforts by encouraging more foot traffic into shopping centres for the benefit of all Boroondara businesses and the broader community.
This decision has been informed through consultation with traders, feedback from the community and directives from VicRoads and the Victorian Government.
Two parklets will be removed in line with the original end date of 30th July 2021 at 819-823 Burke Road and 842-848 Glenferrie Road based on these discussions.
