Baw Baw Shire invites community input on its arts and culture strategy

Baw Baw Shire Council is inviting the community to support a vibrant and connected arts and culture sector in Baw Baw, and has developed a draft Creative Communities Strategy which is now open for community consultation.

Mayor of Baw Baw Shire Annemarie McCabe notes “Creativity is at the heart of all our communities. Arts and culture is for everyone and it is our role to connect, inspire, and provide opportunities to support that creativity.

“This draft strategy aims to deliver on our commitment to contribute to the arts to support a healthy thriving and sustainable community.

“It celebrates our community’s cultural strengths and the people at the heart of them. Importantly, it sets out a clear framework that will support Government, industry and community to work together to ensure a vibrant and creative Baw Baw.”

To ensure the draft strategy supports the creation of memories, connection, joy and colour in the lives of all residents, every community member is invited to review the Strategy and share their thoughts, ideas and feedback by completing a short online survey.

Community submissions will be welcomed until 5:00pm on Monday 12th June.

In addition to this open community feedback, Council will also engage key stakeholder groups, the Arts and Culture Advisory Committee, and Government agencies to participate in a targeted consultation process.
