Basketball coaches conference to be addressed by prominent elite coaches and sports science experts
Basketball Australia will again bring coaches together from throughout the country for the second annual National Coaches Conference, to be held at the BA Centre of Excellence in Canberra on 2nd and 3rd May.
After the success of the inaugural event last year, this year’s conference will focus on ‘Teaching the Why of the How’ and will feature a host of presentations from prominent elite coaches and sports science experts.
The conference is a key part of Basketball Australia’s ongoing commitment to coach development of all levels of the sport and provides coaches with the opportunity to learn the latest techniques, as well as exchange ideas with colleagues and network with experts in the areas of strength and conditioning and skill acquisition.
An impressive list of presenters will be revealed in the coming days and the conference will be opened with a keynote presentation from President of the FIBA World Association of Basketball Coaches and Australian coaching icon Patrick Hunt.
NBA Global Academy Coach Nico Loureiro will conduct an on-court session on developing post players and respected Newington College coach Rex Nottage is set to present a workshop of ‘building a program’.
Other presenters will include coaches from the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence and guests from the WNBL and NBL.
All on-court sessions and presentations will be themed around ‘Teaching the Why of the How’ and will provide coaches of all levels with unique insights into best practice techniques in player development, team strategy, leadership and communication.
Cost for the 2017 Conference is $200 and there is an earlybird discount for coaches registering prior to 8th April.
