Basketball Australia announces new Executive General Manager appointment
Basketball Australia has announced the appointment of Jo Juler to the position of Executive General Manager - Marketing, Communications and Digital.
In a statement, Basketball Australia advised that Juler brings “a wealth of executive-level experience at high profile international and domestic sporting bodies including Head of Marketing - Tennis and Australia Open at Tennis Australia; Marketing, Communications and Commercial Manager at Melbourne & Olympic Parks; and General Manager - Marketing and Communications Manager at Melbourne Football Club.”
Basketball Australia interim Chief Executive, Carolyn Campbell went on to stated “this is an important appointment for Basketball Australia and we are delighted to welcome Jo Juler to the organisation as our new Executive General Manager - Marketing, Communications and Digital.
“Jo brings an enormous amount of industry experience to Basketball Australia, where she has a strong record of delivering outstanding results and joins the organisation at an exciting time for the sport.
“Basketball has one of the highest grassroots participation rates of any sport in Australia, our national teams both at a senior and junior level are ranked amongst the best in the world which is a reflection of our elite pathway, we produce globally revered coaches and officials, and the Chemist Warehouse WNBL is not only the longest-running elite women’s sporting competition in Australia but acknowledged as one of the finest leagues internationally.
“As a sport and an as organisation, we have a huge amount of untapped potential which is reflected in our new Strategic Plan, and we are thrilled to have Jo onboard to support the implementation and delivery of this Strategy.”
As member of the Basketball Australia Executive Team, Juler will lead the governing body’s marketing, communications and digital team, working with internal and external stakeholders to drive BA’s growth agenda as identified in the organisation’s new four-year Strategic Plan.
Commencing with the organisation as of yesterday, Juler is be based out of Basketball Australia’s Head Office in Melbourne.
NBL announces new Chief Operating Officer
Last week also saw the National Basketball League (NBL) announce Vince Crivelli as its new Chief Operating Officer.
Crivelli, currently Chief Executive at Melbourne United will take on nis new role in at the completion of the current NRL season.
Crivelli has been in his role at United since the club’s inception in 2014, over-seeing the club’s inaugural championship in 2018.
Speaking on the appointment, Crivelli noted “the NBL has enjoyed a remarkable resurgence over the past six years and is now considered one of the best basketball leagues in the world outside of the NBA.”
