Basketball Australia announces interim Chief Executive appointment

Basketball Australia has announced the appointment of former Netball NSW Chief Executive, Carolyn Campbell, as its interim Chief Executive.

The appointment, which is effective immediately, comes after former the sport’s current Chief Executive, Jerril Rechter, announced her resignation from the organisation on 30th March, leaving the role on 1st April.

Campbell (pictured) joins Basketball Australia after spending the past 15 years as the Chief Executive of Netball NSW, and having spent the past 25 years in senior executive roles across Australian sport.

Advising that Campbell will assume all of the Chief Executive’s duties and responsibilities while its board conducts a search to fill the role permanently, Basketball Australia Chair, Ned Coten explained “the board is delighted to have been able to secure the esteemed services of Carolyn Campbell as Basketball Australia’s interim CEO.

“Ms Campbell is a highly regarded, vastly experienced sports administrator who understands the inner working of national sporting organisations and will be able to hit the ground running during what is a busy, yet exciting year for Australian basketball.”

Basketball Australia did not confirm whether Campbell would be a candidate for the permanent role as part of the search.
