Bartley Sets ALFA on Course

The Australian Leisure Facilities Association (ALFA) has appointed Loren Bartley as its Executive Officer, with her primary task being to work closely with ALFAâs Board to bring to life the vision of forming a national organisation to represent the people that work in, supply to and have responsibility for the aquatics, recreation and leisure facilities in Australia.

Bartley has extensive experience in the areas of sport administration and management, project management, education and training, disability sport and performance management, with international experience, working in both the United Kingdom and Singapore. Her tertiary education includes a Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Movement) and a Masters of Business (Sport Management).

Loren explains "access to quality leisure facilities and quality services within is essential for community health, as well as the development of our elite athletes of the future.

"By forming a national voice, ALFA will be able to lobby government on behalf of the industry, while developing strong local networks and delivering a plethora of member services that will ultimately improve the standard of the industry as a whole."

The Australian Leisure Facilities Association is profiled in the May/June 2009 issue of Australasian Leisure Management.
