Bands in the Park series returns to Darwin
City of Darwin is bringing back the free Band in the Park Sunday Series with the Arafura Wind Ensemble performing for people to enjoy throughout September and early October.
The Arafura Wind Ensemble will be performing music including Italian and Russian Opera, American Broadway, 60’s Psychedelic Rock Blues, to the latest from the Disney+ Studio.
City of Darwin Chief Executive, Scott Waters said that Bands in the Park is always popular, providing an opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy the end of the dry season in City of Darwin parks across the city and suburbs.
Waters notes “this is a great way for people to get together with family and friends or to even enjoy your own company whilst listening to some great music.
“Pack a picnic and enjoy some casual al fresco dining late on a Sunday afternoon in our beautiful parks whilst being entertained by the fabulous Arafura Wind Ensemble for free.”
Arafura Wind Ensemble President, Vicktor Petroff added “we are kicking off the first of four ‘Band in the Park’ gigs at Bicentennial Park this Sunday.
“I invite everyone to come and enjoy the slick sounds of Arafura as we traverse multiple musical styles and themes of a 100 years of stage, pop and film.”
People are asked to bring their own food and beverage, chairs and picnic blankets and to dispose of any rubbish thoughtfully.
