Banana Shire Council chooses Venue Management Services

Venue Management Services (VMS) is celebrating the success of its first major local council venue management contract with Banana Shire Council.

Banana Shire Council, in the Capricorn region of Queensland, has engaged VMS to operate its 380 metre2 Biloela Civic Centre, which includes an auditorium, supper room and bar lounge.

Since taking over the management contract for the venue, VMS has revolutionised its business, which is now attracting corporate conferences and seminars as well as a number of theatrical productions put on by the local community.

As VMS Director Saxon Mitchell explains "what is unique about VMS is that we understand the importance of engaging the community and looking after existing stakeholders in a venue.

"At a time when councils are under more and more pressure to find alternative revenue streams, out-sourcing the operation of an under-performing venue makes a lot of sense."

Venue Management Services (VMS) specialises in re-engaging the community as well as increasing the return on investment from venues such as town halls, civic centres, art galleries, performing arts centres and sports clubs.

It also works with community-based institutions such as surf life saving clubs and church halls, to maximise the utilisation of their venues and create increased financial return for their stakeholders.

As well as a fully integrated special event management service, VMS takes over the managing of staff, the organisation of venue bookings, supply and management of catering services as well as the production of marketing materials and complete financial management of venue operations.
