Avantidrome to host first international event

Following on from the success of New Zealand’s track cyclists at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, Cambridge’s Avantidrome will host its first international event from 18th to 20th September.

The upcoming three day UCI Class 1 Track Cycling event, one level below the World Cup, is to encompass the BikeNZ Classic and the BikeNZ Cup, and will see elite and junior riders race both sprint and endurance events in an international competition with competitors from at least five countries.

Looking forward to the event, Home of Cycling Charitable Trust Chief Executive Geoff Balme says “(this event) will provide the opportunity for New Zealand's star track athletes, fresh their medal haul at the Commonwealth Games, to race in front of a home crowd in what is sure to be an exciting three days of racing.”
