Australia’s second iFLY opens on the Gold Coast
Australia’s second iFLY indoor skydiving facility has opened in the heart of Surfers Paradise at 3082 and 3084 Surfers Paradise Boulevard – in the heart of the Gold Coast’s popular tourism hub.
Developer the ISA Group has built a 4 metre indoor vertical wind tunnel catering supported by ancillary services, including F&B and retail outlets.
The high profile location is Australia’s second iFLY indoor skydiving facility, following the success of the first – located at Penrith Panthers World of Entertainment in Western Sydney.
Indoor Skydive Australia Group Chief Executive Wayne Jones is thrilled with the new facility, commenting “we have had great local support for the facility and feedback that has instilled confidence that our Gold Coast facility will be just as popular as our location in Sydney.”
“It’s incredible to know that we are not only bringing the joy of flight to people on the Gold Coast, but we are also investing in the city and committing to the community through the provision of jobs and an amazing sporting activity for Gold Coast locals and tourists alike.”
iFLY currently employs over 50 staff members with 25 local jobs created in the Gold Coast. This is expected to increase over the coming years with expansion plans for future iFLY’s in Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth.
Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate first visited the facility in November and comments the new attraction will be an innovative and creative asset to the city.
Mayor Tate commented “the Gold Coast’s success as Australia’s No 1 tourism city is built on the fact we continually renew our attractions and services for both residents and tourists.
“This is another example of how confidence in our city is increasing, meaning more investment, more jobs and more exciting attractions for locals and tourists alike.”
iFLY was launched last week with a Red Carpet party attended by Mayor Tate, local radio personality Bianca Dye, sporting legend Sally Pearson, actor Blair McDonough, model and celebrity stylist Elizabeth McMahon, Fitness Model, Gabby Epstein, Model Jessica Green, TV personality and Skateboarding Champion Mikey Mendoza and globally recognised DJ Brooklyn.
Commenting on the opening, ISA Group Chief Marketing Officer Brett Sheridan explains “we have seen unbelievable interest in our indoor skydiving facility over the last few months.
“Aussies absolutely love Indoor Skydiving and the amount of flyingtime we have sold since we birthed the idea back in early 2014 is phenomenal.
“We have watched it develop into a national sport and we have also seen more people than ever give it a go, it really is a unique experience that is proving to be the go-to activity for everyone from families to adrenaline seekers.”
