Sunbather delivers energy savings for Paul Sadler Swimland schools

Sunbather Pool Technologies' thermal blankets have helped deliver energy savings at two Paul Sadler Swimland facilities in Victoria.

Concerned with how much it was costing to heat their pools, managers at Paul Sadler Swimland Taylors Lakes and Paul Sadler Swimland Melton ran Sunbather's Pool Heat Simulation to assess their energy use and potential savings.

Based on a thermal analysis program developed by the University of NSW, Sunbather utilises a climatic data file for each client's location and performs an hour by hour thermal simulation of a pool's heat losses and heat input from gas and solar.

With minimal distruption (installation was undertaken during the hours when the pools were closed) both centres covered the cost of their installations within one year and are now enjoying the savings.

As Sunbather Pool Technologies Commercial Sales Manager Pam Robinson explains "both centres had different criteria on the Sunbather System that was right for their centre.

"Paul Sadler Swimland Melton did not want to be looking at the blankets and roller but wanted them installed above the windows.

"After an onsite visit and discussion, the Sunbather Engineer designed the system to suit this task (with a) new Sunbather Grey Thermal blanket a perfect fit for this centre.

"The installation was completed and the centre is very happy with the results.

"Paul Sadler Swimland Taylors Lakes had a different view and were happy to keep the Sunbather blanket and roller system down low.

"Our) engineer designed a system that took up minimal space at the end of the pool and really looked great against the windows. The thermal blankets for this system were in Sunbather Sky Blue, which complimented the pool hall."

Paul Sadler has been teaching children how to swim and survive in deep water since 1972, and today operates Paul Sadler Swimlands at 12 locations in Queensland and Victoria, and a further program in Canada.
