Australian venues score in Pollstar ticket sales ranking
Three Australian venues have ranked in the world's top 15 in Pollstar's mid-year report on ticket sales at the world's top 100 arenas and entertainment venues.
Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena ranked at number 3 while the AEG Ogden managed pair of Allphones Arena in Sydney (pictured) ranked number 9 and the Brisbane Entertainment Centre ranked 14.
AEG Ogden's Group Director for Arenas, Tim Worton, said today the company was extremely pleased with the results in the respected industry publication which reflect the strength of the industry in Australia and the exuberance of the local concert promoters.
Worton explained "the Australian market continues to punch above its weight and it is tremendous to see Allphones Arena consistently being listed as a top 10 venue globally and the Brisbane Entertainment Centre being ranked similarly and being a dominant arena in its capacity range.
"The Australian promoters are to be commended for the consistent stream of quality product that they continue to tour that is responsible for the arenas featuring so prominently in this list."
Allphones Arena and the Brisbane Entertainment Centre form part of AEG Ogden's arena network in Australia which also includes Newcastle Entertainment Centre and the soon-to-be-opened Perth Arena.
The Sydney Entertainment Centre came in at number 47 in the rankings.
