Australian Event Awards looks for a new home

Having been staged at Sydney Olympic Park since 2010, the Australian Event Awards are looking to continue their success at a new location for the coming three years.

The Awards, which recognise the thousands of great events that Australians present and manage both at home and overseas each year, are become recognised as the pinnacle awards program for the Australian events industry.

They provide an opportunity for Australian events, event managers, products and service providers to be nationally recognised for their achievements. Their aims are to celebrate and reward innovation and excellence across the whole spectrum of Australian events and event services.

The program consists of Categories ranging from 'Best Sporting Event' to 'Best Achievement in Design' and culminates in the highly prized 'Australian Event of the Year' award.

Previous award winners include the Santos Tour Down Under, South Australia; the Australian Open, Victoria; Opera on Sydney Harbour; the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre; Ten Days on the Island, Tasmania; the Queensland Mining and Engineering Exhibition and the and Newmont Boddington Gold Official opening, Western Australia.

Following the inaugural Event Awards in 2009 the organisers launched a search for a home venue for the subsequent three years with Sydney Olympic Park successful in their bid to become the host venue for the awards.

As Awards Managing Director Ian Steigrad explains "during those three years Sydney Olympic Park Authority (SOPA) were immensely supportive of the awards and have greatly assisted in bolstering the legitimacy and exposure of the program. Their participation has been invaluable."

Now that the three year arrangement with SOPA has come to a close, a wide variety of interest has been shown from venues, organisations and governments across Australia in hosting the awards.

Steigrad adds "in response to this, and in order to provide a fair opportunity to all, wehave decided to launch a new national Search for a Home for the 2013-2015 Awards."

Interested parties now have five weeks to submit their bid, prior to closusre of the process on 14th June 2013.

With the Award presentation expected to be held in the second week of November each year, the winning destination will have the opportunity to showcase itself directly to the movers and shakers of the Australian events industry. Along with those who export Australian Events expertise to the world and to the 20,000 strong Australian Event Awards database.

The announcement of the winning destination will be on the 9th July 2013.
