Aussie World commences construction on largest-ever thrill ride
Sunshine Coast theme park Aussie World has today commenced building an adrenaline-charged thrill ride which has the capability to catapult guests up to 80 kilometres per hour and 11 stories in the air.
The Typhoon SX 360, the region’s first ever ‘tier 1’ attraction will be Australia's tallest, fastest, 360-degree swing ride when it opens for the summer season.
Aussie World spokesperson Tim James said the ride continues the theme park’s quest to become one of Australia’s best tourist destinations, advising “in 2017 Sunshine Coast Council approved the expansion of Aussie World from our current 6 hectare ha site to include five new major rides and additional car parking.
“We’ve been quick to act on that approval by fast tracking the installation of the Typhoon SX 360 which will be located on top of a two storey cliff at the highest point of Aussie World and will be highly visible to motorists from the highway.”
The Italian-made Typhoon SX 360 is a pendulum ride with counter weight and full inversion 360° arch capable of holding up to 24 adult riders.
James added “we’ve been very keen to have a tier 1 level thrill ride at Aussie World for quite some time, it’s next level in terms of our current ride offer and it certainly lifts our profile in terms of absolute adrenalin action. The ride is the latest extreme novelty in the swing rides class and would be a highly spectacular thrill experience considering the imposing dimension and the peripheral speed.
“These types of adrenalin charged rides are what the teen and young adult market expect when they visit a theme park and we are really pleased that this will be the first of its kind in Australia. We are confident that it will put Aussie World on the map in terms of offering guests a broad range of rides and attractions for the whole family.”
Aussie World's pub is also on track for a 2019 unveiling which will see it double in size, with a more modern, Queensland-style design.
