AsiaWorld-Expo gets recognition as one of Asia's top three convention/exhibition centres

For the first time ever, Hong Kong exhibition, convention and events venue AsiaWorld-Expo has been named in the top three in the Best Convention and Exhibition Centres category in Asia at the recent CEI Asia Industry Awards 2012.
AsiaWorld-Expo Management Limited see this as a "remarkable achievement" for a venue which has only been in operation for six years.
Organised by CEI Asia magazine, the CEI awards are based on votes and feedback by professionals and readers from the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) industry worldwide. This year's awards also mark the first time that Hong Kong has had two venues (AsiaWorld-Expo and HKCEC) listed in the top three - a powerful testament to Hong Kong's status as a world-class MICE destination.
Commenting on AsiaWorld-Expo's award, CEI Asia magazine referred to "standout events hosted by AsiaWord-Expo in 2011 included the Hong Kong Jewellery and Gem Fair in September, organised by UBM Asia Limited."
The fair took place over two venues but there was a 30% increase in visitors in the first two days of the fair at AsiaWorld-Expo alone in 2011. In the same month, AsiaWorld-Expo unveiled its latest 'Economic Contribution Assessment Report' conducted by KPMG, which indicated the venue had contributed HK$13.4 billion to the local economy in 2010, a 25% increase on the previous year.
AsiaWorld-Expo Management Limited Chief Executive Allen Ha stated "we are deeply honoured to be recognised by globally-renowned industry leaders and professionals.
"Being named one of the top three 'Best Convention/Exhibition Centres' is a high-profile recognition of our commitment to excellence, including our enhanced transportation network. In making this award, CEI Asia magazine also mentioned the two-venue collaboration that underpins the extraordinary success of the Hong Kong Jewellery and Gem Fair in September. This visionary business co-operation has enabled Hong Kong to win two of the top three places in this year's 'Best Convention/Exhibition Centres', which is yet another reminder of Hong Kong's strength as a MICE industry leader."
AsiaWorld-Expo has welcomed numerous international and regional exhibition and convention events in the past six years.
Local and international entertainers have likewise made AsiaWorld-Expo their venue of choice in Hong Kong. Local pop singer Jacky Cheung has recently announced that he will hold a new series of concerts at AsiaWorld-Expo, and performances by other pop idols and super stars will be announced in the coming months. To complete this action-packed schedule, AsiaWorld-Expo will be hosting a number of public events throughout 2012.
Ha adds "AsiaWorld-Expo has always focused on providing high quality and professional services.
"As a relatively new venue, AsiaWorld-Expo has dedicated itself to continually enhancing its services and earning the respect of the entire MICE industry. We are thrilled with this recognition from CEI Asia magazine and will use it to continue to inspire new service innovation. Looking ahead, we are also excited by the many opportunities brought to us by the Pearl River Delta region's economic development, including the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, as well as the visionary developments outlined in China's '12th Five-Year Plan' announced by the Chinese Central Government. By seizing all these opportunities, AsiaWorld-Expo will continue to play a key role in its contributions both to the MICE industry and Hong Kong."
