Asian Attractions Expo 2013 heads to Marina Bay Sands Singapore

Following the successful Asian Attractions Expo 2012 in Hong Kong, the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) has announced that the 2013 event will take place at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre at Singapore's Marina Bay Sands from 4th to 7th June 2013.

IAAPA expects more than 4,500 attractions industry professionals from 40 countries to participate in Asian Attractions Expo 2013 and more than two hundred companies from around the world to exhibit their goods and services in 100 categories, including amusement and theme park rides; motion simulators; ziplines; transportation equipment; architectural and design services; theatrical equipment and production services; food and beverage items; inflatable attractions; waterslides; and video and skill games.

Asian Attractions Expo 2013 will also feature an industry-specific education program on topics like innovative marketing, developing a culture of safety, efficient operations, and effective facility management. The presentations will be given by worldwide industry leaders in each discipline. Classroom sessions and behind-the-scenes tours to area attractions will highlight the hot trends and explain best practices. Industry veterans, individuals new to the industry, and attractions facility supervisors will all benefit from participating in the Expo.

Marina Bay Sands is one of the top integrated resorts in Asia. It opened in 2010 and includes state-of-the-convention facilities, more than 2,500 finely appointed hotel rooms, world-class restaurants, a luxury shopping mall, spectacular entertainment venues, the ArtScience Museum, and the iconic rooftop Sands SkyPark, complete with an infinity pool that features breathtaking views of Singapore and the South China Sea.

IAAPA Vice President of Asia-Pacific Operations Andrew Lee explains "we are excited to bring Asian Attractions Expo back to Singapore in 2013.

"Marina Bay Sands provides the ideal convention facilities, and our participants from around the world will enjoy experiencing all the integrated resort and Singapore have to offer."

Asian Attractions Expo 2012 was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre at the beginning of June. It took place in Singapore in 2011 and in Malaysia in 2010.

The Hong Kong event featured a record-breaking trade show floor, sold-out IAAPA Institute for Attractions Managers, jam-packed education sessions, and a strong buyer turnout from around the world. Preliminary estimates indicate 5,150 people viewed or displayed the attractions industry's newest products and services, participated in education programs and networking events, learned from high-profile expert speakers, and took behind-the-scenes tours of area attractions.

Within these numbers, more than 3,200 buyers, including owners, executives, managers, and leaders from theme parks, waterparks, family entertainment centers, zoos, aquariums, museums, science centers, and resorts from 65 nations experienced the products and services of 274 companies from 32 countries exhibiting over 6,360 metres2 of space, the most expansive trade show floor in the show's history.

The success of the event led IAAPA President and Chief Executiv Chip Cleary to comment, "IAAPA's presence in Asia is expanding along with the attractions industry, and that is evidenced by the record turnout for the 2012 Expo. The conference and trade show has grown tremendously since opening the IAAPA Asia-Pacific office less than two years ago, and going forward we expect the show will continue to reflect industry growth within the region."
