ASB Showgrounds redevelopment Opens

New Zealand Prime Minister John Key has officially opened the final stage three of the $31 million ASB Showgrounds redevelopment in the Auckland suburb of Greenlane.

The final stage, which sees the completion of the new colonnade, frontage, foyer and vehicle dock for the historic 3,000 seat Logan Campbell Centre, completes the new redevelopment of ASB Showgrounds.

With a new hub, food court, functions rooms, wine bar, entry and registration areas, and extensions to the exhibition halls, ASB Showground management now claim to have "a truly world-class multi-dimensional venue."

The redevelopment sees exhibition space has been increased to 18,000 metre2 further reinforcing ASB Showgroundsâ status as New Zealandâs premier events and exhibition centre. The venue is now featuring on the world stage to attract more high profile international exhibitions, shows and events.

As ASB Showgrounds Chief Executive, Mark Frankham explains "this redevelopment will deliver significant economic benefits to the Auckland region through increased countrywide and international visitors attending events at ASB Showgrounds.

"I am confident we will continue to exceed expectations well into the future and will provide improved facilities to community and charitable organizations that use our facilities for educational and vocational purposes."

Support for the redevelopment came from numerous parties including Cornwall Park Trust, ASB Showgrounds' loyal customer base, the ASB Community Trust, the Auckland Regional Council, the Employers and Manufacturing Association, Chamber of Commerce, Regional Councils, the A&P Council and numerous ethnic and community users.
