Arts, culture, and tourism combine for 2022 South Australian conference
The South Australia Tourism Conference returns in 2022, taking centre stage at the recently renovated Adelaide Festival Centre with the aim of highlighting the strong connection between arts, culture, and tourism across the State.
Delivered by the Tourism Industry Council South Australia (TiCSA), the Conference returns on 31st May, 2022, after a two-year hiatus, with a new theme: the Art of Tourism.
The South Australian Tourism Conference is the state’s preeminent annual networking and professional development event for the tourism sector and broader visitor economy.
The 2022 program features renowned keynote speakers from around the country, including Tara Howell, creator of acclaimed projects Blue Derby Pods Ride and Change Overnight, Dr James Muecke, 2020 Australian of the Year, and Peta Granger, retail consultant and former director of LUSH Australia & New Zealand.
The one-day program incorporates a diverse and informative range of expert speakers, panel sessions, networking sessions and trade exhibitors.
Additional events will be held post-Conference to expand on the initial program and provide further professional and business development. This includes a series of workshops with experienced trainers on topics such as revenue management and marketing, and individualised one-on-one training sessions.
Providing a welcome address at the SA Tourism Conference, Minister for Tourism Zoe Bettison said the event signalled a huge step forward in the recovery of South Australia’s tourism industry.
Minister Bettison notes “Tourism is a key driver of South Australia’s economy and creates thousands of jobs for locals – the return of this major industry conference is a strong indication that we are on the path to recovery in the industry.
“We’ve seen how the demand for travel, major events and business conferences are boosting tourism in our state. From record-high occupancy rates in Adelaide and across the regions, to bumper ticket sales for the Fringe, Adelaide Festival, WOMADelaide, and Tasting Australia. We also recently hosted a global hotel conference which drew delegates to our city from all over the world.
“South Australia is known for its vibrant arts culture. It is a priority laid out in the Arts & Cultural Tourism Strategy 2025 recently launched by the South Australian Tourism Commission and Arts SA, and I look forward to working with industry to grow this valuable sector and the visitor economy.”
