Art in the Dark 2014 to present art in a new light

Set to illuminate installations and urban spaces for the Auckland public, Art in the Dark 2014 is calling for artists from across New Zealand to apply to be a part of its 2014 programme, transforming Auckland's Western Park into a bustling hub under bright lights from 13th to 16th November.

2014 will see Art in the Dark celebrates its fifth year and due to popular demand is extending to four nights with 100,000 visitors expected.

Artists from home and abroad are invited to apply to be part of Art in the Dark 2014, by submitting proposals based on the theme ‘out of nothing' at www.artinthedark.co.nz/artist-registration.

Works will include: Light Installations; Interactive Projects; Spatial Projects; Community Projects; Sound Installations; video Works; Projections; Artworks; Performances; Kinetic Structures; Sculptures and any other creative concepts.

Festival Director Celia Harrison says “Art in the Dark provides a unique and exciting opportunity for artists to create something large scale, interactive and amazing works for the city of Auckland - every year we receive more and more applications to be part of this fantastic event.”

Since 2010, Art in the Dark has grown into a major public art event for Auckland. In 2013, over 55,000 visited Art in the Dark to explore, play with and marvel at 44 light installations throughout Ponsonby’s Western Park – with projections, performances and large scale immersive experiences from some of the most innovative creators the public will have a chance to see.
