Ararat Rural City Council invites community input on 10-year sport and recreation strategy
Ararat Rural City Council is inviting the community to deliver feedback on a new strategy aimed at identifying and addressing the community's sport and active recreation needs and priorities.
Council's ten-year Sport and Active Recreation Strategy is designed to ensure that Council can effectively support and promote a physically active and healthy community.
To assist with developing this Strategy, Council is seeking feedback on the following key areas:
Places - which facilities may no longer effectively meet the needs of the community and what type of upgraded or new facilities may be required to support our diverse and growing community.
Participation - what types of barriers people may experience which prevent them from being more physically active, and how Council can address these barriers.
Partnerships - how Council can work in partnership with clubs and organisations to best support quality sport and active recreation facilities, services and programs in the municipality.
Ararat Rural City Council Mayor Jo Armstrong notes "whilst we provide several sport and recreation facilities and services, we also recognise that there are many groups in our community that have an important role in delivering and supporting physical activity opportunities for our residents.
"This Strategy will provide a road map to enable us to best utilise our resources, whilst also working in partnership with local groups to strengthen and contribute significantly to the health, economic and social wellbeing of our community."
The Ararat Sport and Active Recreation Strategy Consultation Survey is open via Engage Ararat until 5pm on Monday 30 June 2025. https://engage.ararat.vic.gov.au/ararat-sport-and-active-recreation-strategy-consultation
