Aquatic playground popular at City of Geelong’s Splashdown facility
Since opening last year, the news Splash Park aquatic playground has proved a popular addition to the City of Great Geelong’s Splashdown facility in the community of Whittington.
Unveiled to mark the facility’s 30th birthday in September, the $850,000 attraction caters for toddlers and young children under 10 years of age.
It features two small waterslides, ideal for children who aren’t yet tall enough to ride Splashdown’s existing four-storey waterslide, as well as water fountains and a larger enclosed slide.
City of Greater Geelong’s Manager Leisure and Recreation Services Malcolm Kuhn said the new equipment would greatly improve the range of aquatic facilities offered at the centre for toddlers and children.
Kuhn advised “the new facilities will help young children continue to build their confidence around water in a fun and interactive environment.
“We have more than 1,000 children currently enrolled in our weekly Swim and Survive lessons at Splashdown and the splash park will help more young children learn to be safe around water, while also having fun.”
The installation features products from US-based Rain Drop Products, installed by Australian agent Farley Pools.
Farley Pools are set to undertake a $1.4 million Rain Drop installation at Ripples Leisure Centre Penrith.
