ANZUP encourages exercising to raise vital funds for cancer research

The Australian and New Zealand Urogenital and Prostate Cancer Trials Group (ANZUP) has just launched a “fun and easy to participate” fundraising event called Below the Belt #YourWay.

Due to ANZUP’s annual fundraising event, Below the Belt Pedalthon, being postponed until 2021, the Below the Belt #YourWay challenge is encouraging all Australians and New Zealanders to get up and get moving in any way they like, whether that is cycling, walking or running.

All they need to do is run/walk/cycle as many kilometres as they can throughout the month of September.

ANZUP conduct clinical trials and research for below the belt cancers to improve lives.

Last year 27,224 Aussies were diagnosed with a below the belt cancer, and 4,502 in people in New Zealand. That's 77 people every day!

Participants are encouraged to fundraise as they take part in the challenge, sharing their progress with their friends, family and colleagues, to help support them along the way.

With September being Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and with Father’s Day on the 6th September, this event is being promoted as “a great, timely way to commemorate Father’s Day and raise money for prostate cancer, still the most diagnosed cancer in AUNZ men.”

Participants can exercise at home, in the office or outdoors and take part with their family, colleagues, friends or just by themselves. Participants can choose to exercise every day or intermittently throughout the month of September to help raise awareness and funds for below the belt cancer research and keeping your mind and body healthy at the same time.

ANZUP’s mission is to improve the outcomes for people diagnosed with below the belt (bladder, kidney, testicular, penile or prostate) cancer and their work is recognised in Australia,New Zealand and across the world as leading the field in genitourinary cancer research.

The Below the Belt #YourWay campaign allows Australians and New Zealanders everywhere to get involved without any risk of the event being impacted by COVID-19 because they can do the kilometres in their own time and space.

ANZUP’s aim is to raise $100,000 that will directly go to clinical trials research for ‘below the belt’ cancers.

All participants who sign up will receive a Below the Belt #YourWay cycle shirt, t-shirt or cap and then there are fundraising prizes for those that raise the most money for this important cause including limited edition #YourWay t-shirts and recovery packs. Along with prizes for the most kms, steps and weekly challenges.
