Anytime Fitness Rockhampton backed by Regional Council’s Development Incentives initiative

Development of the soon to open Anytime Fitness Rockhampton has been aided by Rockhampton Regional Council’s generous Development Incentives initiative.

With the initiative reducing infrastructure charges for new businesses in the Rockhampton CBD, gym franchisees and developers Adam and Grant King were encouraged to bring the world famous brand name to the city.

Adam King explains “the CBD is the fastest growing area in all of Rockhampton with enormous residential and commercial buildings being constructed within one kilometre of what will be our new gym.

"(When we open) we will have the most advanced equipment on the market, making it one of, if not the, biggest and most modern gyms in Central Queensland.

“The reduction of the infrastructure charges with the strong growth of Rockhampton was the main reason we decided to invest in the Rockhampton Region and we’re really excited to be located right in the middle of huge activity.

“If Council wasn’t providing discounts on their infrastructure charges under their Development Incentives Policy, we would not have been able to invest in Rockhampton."

Expected to cost approximately $750,000, construction work and fit out for Anytime Fitness Rockhampton is expected to reach completion early October 2014.

The new gym will be equipped with over $350,000 of latest cardio, strength, weight and crossfit equipment catering to all types of fitness levels and individuals.

Rockhampton Regional Council began its Development Incentives initiative in December last year, with four clear targets in mind, to:

• Stimulate development in Rockhampton’s traditional CBD area;
• Enhance and add value to already existing businesses and infrastructure;
• Increase development in the areas adjoining the CBD; and
• Encourage commercial and industrial investment in areas outside the CBD to ensure our economy continues to expand and diversify.

Anytime Fitness Rockhampton will be located at Level 2, 34 East Street, Rockhampton.
