Anticipation rises as Star Event Centre opening approaches
The Star, Sydney's new premium event and entertainment destination, perched on the edge of the Sydney Harbour foreshore, is to offer unlimited event opportunities with the opening of the Event Centre in January 2013.
The final piece in the multi-million dollar transformation The Star has recently undergone, the $100 million multi-purpose Event Centre aims to fill a gap in Sydney's entertainment and convention market by being the largest of any hotel event space in Sydney.
Business Events Sydney Chief Executive Lyn Lewis-Smith is welcoming the opportunities that this venue offers for the Australasian business events market.
Lewis-Smith explains "the Event Centre is a stunning platform for business and special events. It is a completely new venue that will deliver new event experiences for multiple types of events. Its enviable position in Sydney, on the iconic harbour foreshore offers both domestic and international event attendees a truly unique experience."
Encased in a glass structure, created by architects Fitzpatrick & Partners, and designed as a flexible environment to engage event attendees, the Event Centre has the capacity of up to 4,000 for standing event attendees, 1,100 for gala dinners, 2,000 for cocktail receptions and 3,200 for theatre style events.
With 1,077 metre2 of column free event space featuring retractable seating, it has the capability to host all types of events including domestic and international meetings, seminars, trade shows and exhibitions, functions, gala dinners, award ceremonies and special events.
The venue's flexibility to host multiple styles of events is complemented by cutting edge technology and production facilities designed by Sceno Plus, a world renowned company responsible for The Colosseum at Caesars Palace and The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas.
With its close proximity to Sydney's CBD and harbour side location, The Star Event Centre is supported by a number of impressive transport links, connecting it with Sydney Airport and the rest of the city and surrounds by public transport and the use of The Star's own private wharf.
The Event Centre is supported by The Star, which boasts five-star accommodation across three hotel towers including the luxuriously boutique, The Darling Hotel and Spa, the five star business hotel Astral Towers and the 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartment style Astral Residences.
With over 20 food and beverage options alongside the Event Centre, and a host of some of Australia's best restaurants, bars and nightclubs, a spa and a luxury international retail collection, The Star is the ultimate event destination.
Events Centre bookings are now being taken for events occurring from January 2013.
After an $870 million redevelopment, The Star has recently been transformed into Sydney's premium entertainment destination. The Star offers award winning chefs and restaurants, The Darling, a five star boutique lifestyle hotel, a 16 room day spa, a luxury retail collection, and a world class casino. In early 2013, The Star will open its new $100 million Events Centre which is designed to host A-list performers from around the world. The state-of-the-art venue is also expected to fill a void in the Sydney conference, convention and banquet market.
