Ambience Entertainment among recipients of Northern Territory screen sector funding
The Northern Territory Government recently awarded close to $120,000 in funding to three screen projects through the latest round of Screen Territory’s Funding Program.
Screen Territory’s Funding Program helps build the capacity of the Territory’s screen industry, contributes to employment of Territorians and use of NT goods and services, as well as raise the profile of the Northern Territory and amplify local storytelling.
Highlighting NT regional characters and remote locations, Ambience Entertainment will receive $10,000 in funding for the production of Muster Dogs Where Are They Now. The four episode documentary series commissioned by the ABC will be filmed across Darwin, Douglas Daly and Katherine.
Muster Dogs explores the profound role of muster dogs in Australian agriculture, showcasing their impact on graziers, the environment, and the industry at large. The series follows the compelling journey of Australian graziers and their dogs as they strive to transform a pup into an essential member of the mustering team within just 12 months. Through this journey, viewers witness the deep bond between graziers and their canine companions, as well as the significant emotional, economic, and environmental benefits of using this form of mustering.
Local production company Tamarind Tree Pictures will receive $40,000 to produce their 30 minute documentary, Emily - I Am Kam. The NITV commissioned project, which is also supported by the National Gallery of Australia, is a celebration of one of Australia’s most significant and prolific female artist’s - Emily Kam Kngwarray.
Slated for the 50th anniversary of Cyclone Tracy, Exposure Production’s documentary, Tracy, will be awarded $68,500 in Screen Territory funding support. The series will be broadcast on the Nine Network and Nine Darwin will provide access to its archives to assist the production.
NT Chief Minister and Minister for Trade Eva Lawler noted “The Territory Government is proud to support our local screen industry and raise the profile of the Northern Territory and our unique stories.
“Screen projects bring substantial economic benefits for the Territory through the creation of jobs and good and services and through the promotion of the Territory to global audiences."
