Tasmanian Government enhances its support for screen and game producers

The Tasmanian Government continues to invest in screen and game producers and developers to continue creating world-class content.

Expanded support is now available for projects that are from, or involve, Tasmanian companies or Tasmanian key creatives.

Attorney-General and Minister for the Arts, Elise Archer said the enhanced support will place Tasmanian creators at the forefront.

Minister Archer advised “the changes we’re making today, prioritises Tasmanian stories, storytellers and intellectual property.

“Through the Production Support program, applicants can now apply for grants of up to $50,000. Where support exceeds $50,000, it will be provided as equity investment.

“This program is targeted at helping to launch short-form, online productions such as Australia’s Best Street Racer, Moments of Clarity, and the upcoming Bad Locals.

“Significant improvements have also been made to the Project Development Program, increasing the level of support for intermediate stage development to $20,000, and increasing the support for a market-attached stage to $30,000.

“Additionally, video game developers can now also apply for Games Development grants of up to $20,000 as they progress their projects through the concept phase.

“This is a clear signal to Tasmanian producers and developers that when they’re ready to create, we’ll be there with the investment to bring their vision to life,” Minister Archer concluded.
