AFL extends partnership with car maker Toyota
Japanese car manufacturer Toyota has extended its long-running partnership with the AFL with a new three year naming rights deal.
The extended sponsorship sees Toyota retain its position as the AFL’s premier partner for the 2017, 2018 and 2019 seasons.
Toyota has served as the naming sponsor of the AFL Premiership for the past 13 years and will continue to support the league’s Good for Footy youth campaign as part of the extension. Good for Footy has raised over $3 million for the sport at grassroots level, and a record $574,305 in 2016.
Welcoming the deal, AFL Chief Executive Gillon McLachlan stated “Toyota is a highly-successful values-driven organisation that is determined to be the best and has been a fantastic partner for the AFL in our efforts to grow our game.
“Our partnership has been great for Australian football and for Toyota and we hope to work together long into the future.”
Toyota has served as the AFL’s premier partner since 2004, when it replaced Carlton and United Breweries. Toyota signed its last extension with the league in March 2014.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, although the league said the deal “ranks among the biggest sponsorship deals in Australian sport”.
