Adoption of Enterprise Agreements in the Leisure Industry

In response to the recent release of the Amusement, Events and Recreation Award 2010 by the Australian Industrial Relations Commission (AIRC), the Australian Amusement, Leisure and Recreation Association (AALARA) has contracted the Australian Federation of Employers and Industries to draft an Enterprise Agreement Model based on consultation with industry and members. AALARA believes this model to be a flexible alternative and more commercially viable and relevant to the needs of our industry then the conditions in the proposed award.

The Association is encouraging all its members who are not currently covered by an award or do not have conditions similar to the proposed new award, to consider an Enterprise Agreement for their business.

To discuss the details and differences between the Amusement, Events and Recreation Award 2010 which will come into effect on 1st January 2010 and the proposed Enterprise Agreement Model, AALARA is to stage a series of information seminars on the Enterprise Agreements will be staged in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.

The events will be held on the following dates:

Brisbane - 9am to noon, Monday 2nd November 2009
Sydney - 9am to noon, Wednesday 4th November 2009
Melbourne - 9am to noon, Thursday 5th November 2009

Aimed at business owners, directors, managers and human resources professionals, entry is free to all AALARA financial members while the cost for non-AALARA members is $345 per person (which includes copy of Enterprise Agreement Module and 12 month membership to AALARA).

The seminars will include:

• The statutory time frame for negotiation and delivery
• Tips on effectively negotiating Enterprise Agreements with your staff
