Adelaide Crows Welcome First Female Director

The Adelaide Crows AFL club have welcomed Adelaide businesswoman Deb Miller as its first female director.
Miller joined real estate executive Greg Moulton and SA Tourism Commission chairman Bob Foord on an expanded board.
The SA Football Commission increased the club's board from seven members to nine, with the retirement of Alan Sheppard and reappointment of Nigel Smart.
The expansion brings the board in line with several other AFL clubs.
Miller, 51, has an accounting background and is founder and Chief Executive of national sales and marketing consultancy business Acuere.
Miller explains "it's exciting and I'm sure it will have its challenges ⦠first up importantly it's looking, listening and understanding the history and current issues.
"Certainly the Crows like other football clubs are under competitive pressure for the revenue dollar.
"So I think my expertise around sales and marketing will be able to assist ways to increase membership, sponsorship and ultimately the revenue lines."
More than 45% of Crows members are female and Miller hopes her appointment to the board will continue to "broaden the appeal to the wider female community".
Miller believes the more diverse a board, the more robust the discussion and more positive the outcomes, stating âit's not just about gender but it is about diversity. And boards can be more effective with that diversity."
