Adelaide Crows support South Australian bushfire appeal

The Adelaide Football Club has thrown its support behind the South Australian Country Fire Service (CFS) and those affected by the South Australian bushfires.

Player signed guernseys and football boots are currently up for auction through IMG Sports Technology Group’s (IMG STG) ecommerce platform, with all money raised going towards the Bushfire Emergency Relief Fund and CFS Foundation.

Adelaide’s Sam Jacobs said the players felt compelled to contribute to the cause.

Jacobs explained “like most people in South Australia, we’ve seen the devastating effect of these fires. A few of the boys got together and said to the club, ‘We want to help. What can we do?’

“We hope our supporters get behind the online auction and help raise some money for the CFS, and importantly the people and families who have lost their homes, businesses and livestock in the fires.”

Jacobs, along with team maters Taylor Walker and Matthew Jaensch, visited CFS firefighters at the One Tree Hill Fire Station on Tuesday (6th January) to show their appreciation for the efforts of the selfless volunteers, who have battled the serious Adelaide Hills blaze around the clock for several days.

Jacobs added “we visited the CFS volunteers just to have a chat and say ‘Thanks’ and, hopefully, put a smile on a few faces after a difficult few days for them.”

All monies donated to the Bushfire Emergency Relief Fund will be distributed to people affected by the bushfires, under the direction of the State Emergency Relief Fund Committee. The CFS Foundation provides vital financial support for volunteer firefighters of the CFS, and their families, should they come to harm in the line of duty and also part-fund training and raise awareness.

The online auction will run until 11:30pm on Friday 16th January.
