Adelaide Crows and West Torrens Council sign Memorandum of Agreement for Thebarton Oval

The Adelaide Football Club has advanced its plans to convert Thebarton Oval into its new headquarters following the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement with West Torrens Council.

The agreement will see the Crows develop a masterplan to develop the venue which will then be sent back to the Council for consideration next year.

The Crows said the agreement meant "extensive consultation" with the community would now take place, with Crows Chairman John Olsen saying that the club is committed to addressing concerns over the development with local residents.

Olsen told ABC Radio Adelaide yesterday “at the end of the day we won't have 100% of the people supporting the project, but what we will want to do is show good faith and work on those issues locally.”

Olsen said the club would now work on its master plan, which will be sent back to council next year for consideration, adding that the club's "preferred position" was to have two ovals, but will work on how community views on the Kings Reserve site could be accommodated where possible.

He went on to say “what we want to do in moving to this new site is take into account views that have been expressed and get expert and technical advice on where we can accommodate the needs and wishes of the community.”
