$26 million upgrade for Parramatta Stadium
The NSW Government is to back plans for a $26 million grandstand to be constructed at the southern end of Parramatta Stadium, where the Brett Kenny terrace currently sits.
The NSW Government has already granted $6 million with the Parramatta Stadium Trust hoping for another $6 million. The Trust is also lobbying the Federal Government to match these funds leaving the Trust to raise funds for the additional amount.
The ground currently holds 20,000 but the upgrade would increase capacity to 23,000 with a gymnasium, additional changing rooms and corporate facilities
The ability of NRL franchise Parramatta Eels to fill the venue was demonstrated during the club's emotional run to this year's Grand Final.
A new grandstand would also make the stadium more appealing as a venue to the new western Sydney A-League franchise.
