2022 Mother’s Day Classic marks event’s 25th anniversary

The 2022 Mother’s Day Classic will once again bring Australians together on Mother’s Day (8th May), to walk or run at up to 70 locations across Australia in honour of those affected by breast cancer and to raise vital funds for breast cancer research.

Over 1.5 million people have participated in the Mother’s Day Classic over the past 24 years, making it Australia’s largest fun run and walk for breast cancer research. Now, in 2022, the landmark 25th anniversary of this wonderful event will pump more money into the fight against breast cancer, which is diagnosed in 55 Australians every day.

By getting active for breast cancer research, participants in the annual Mother’s Day Classic have so far helped to donate almost $40 million in funding for 79 breast cancer research projects.

At the major city and metro event locations – in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra, Perth, Adelaide, Gold Coast, Darwin, Hobart, Geelong and Western Sydney – there will be the buzz of the event village, live entertainment, music, and food stalls to enjoy throughout the morning.

Zara Lawless, Mother’s Day Classic Chief Executive advised “after two challenging years, we are all set and excited to be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Mother’s Day Classic, which is just 10 days away.

“It’s great to be welcoming back our traditional Mother’s Day Classic experiences as we unite in celebration of 25 years of impact with communities right across the nation.

“We encourage participants to head to their locations early so they can soak up the atmosphere, connect with their local community and celebrate this special event with friends and family while raising vital funds for breast cancer research.

“This year, we are excited to have 57 local events taking place all around Australia. From Busselton in Western Australia, up to Magnetic Island, Queensland and down to Warrnambool, in Victoria, tens of thousands of local community members will come together to walk and run, and receive their commemorative medallion as they cross the finish line.”

There is still time to register and book your spot for the 2022 Mother’s Day Classic  however Lawless advised that spots are filling fast, with some timeslots at event locations already at full capacity.

If you can’t join in for one of the official events on Mother’s Day, you can personalise an event to create your very own Mother’s Day Classic experience and take part on a different day, time or location to suit.

There is still time to register and book your spot for the 2022 Mother’s Day Classic by visiting the event website, where local course and event information, distance options, event timing and FAQs are all detailed.
