2021 AusCycling relocates 2021 BMX National Championships to the Gold Coast
AusCycling has advised that after widespread consultation with a range of stakeholders, it has been determined that the BMX National Championships will be moved from Perth to the Gold Coast.
AusCycling advised that “the decision follows discussions with the Western Australian government and a review of the latest health advice and travel restrictions which would affect the ability of many competitors to attend the National Championships.”
Following an agreement between AusCycling and Major Events Gold Coast, the championships will now be held at the Nerang BMX Club from 8th to 12th December.
AusCycling goes on to state that it “will continue working with Tourism WA and the City of Stirling to ensure that future major BMX events to be hosted in Western Australia and further details will be released in due course.
“While it was a difficult decision to move the championships, all involved recognised the importance of making the event as accessible as possible, particularly as the BMX National Championships have not been held since March 2019.”
AusCycling will continue to monitor latest health advice and will provide updates as required while refunds will be provided for any member who has already entered the BMX National Championships and is unable to attend.
The NSO adds “while the cancellation or rescheduling of events is regrettable, the health and well-being of Australia’s cycling community is AusCycling’s primary concern, and we will continue to be guided by the latest health authority advice.”
