2015 Routeburn Classic sells out within 48 hours
Set to be run on 25th April, the 2015 Routeburn Classic mountain run will follow the 32 kilometre route of New Zealand’s world famous Routeburn Track.
Rated by Lonely Planet as one of the top ten walks in the world, the event is on the bucket list of trail and adventure runners across the globe.
An exclusive event, limited to 350 athletes, the Routeburn Classic sells out every year. This year has been no exception, with the event selling out in less than 48 hours, with 170 athletes registering within the first 15 minutes registrations were live.
IMG Sports Technology Group (IMG STG) provides the event management system for the
Routeburn Classic and assists with the technology requirements of the event.
Their involvement sees Event Director Evan McWhirter stating “IMG STG has been fantastic to work with.
“For a long time we always handled the back end ourselves but after having a shocker one year with the code not working as tested in the heat of the moment and our server at the time crashing with the volume of traffic new solutions were required.
“IMG STG has an awesome system that covers all our needs and supplies data in an easy to use format.
“The people at IMG STG really understand what’s required and know their system inside and out, making the whole process very smooth.”
For those that missed out this year, names can be entered on a wait list.
The Routeburn Classic mountain run follows the entire Routeburn Track. First held in 2001, its draws many local competitors as well as many international runners. Numbers are limited to reduce impact on the area, which is one of the great walks in New Zealand and is looked after by the Department of Conservation.
