2013 Sports Club Management Expo gets backing from Reagan Milstein Foundation

SportsTech Australia has teamed up with the Reagan Milstein Foundation (RMF) to bring the Foundation to the 2013 Sports Club Management Expo, to be held in Melbourne on 17th November.

The Foundation, created in 2010, aims to raise funds to offer financial and moral support to Australian youngsters who may not have the opportunity or financial resources to play sport or be involved in a sports club, with a special interest in Indigenous Australian youth.

The Foundation will be running its 'BootBack' initiative at the Expo, collecting used and second-hand football boots from football clubs in attendance. These boots will then be cleaned, reconditioned and branded with RMF boot laces and distributed to football clubs and identified community groups whose members may not have the resources needed to acquire boots.

Event founder Alex Mednis explains "it's a great cause.

"Sport is all about inclusivity it doesn't matter where you're from or how much you have anyone should be able to get involved.

"The BootBack program underpins that, allowing disadvantaged kids to get involved".

The Foundation is a key partner of Football Federation Victoria, who is also supporting the Sports Club Management Expo.

The Expo is not just for football clubs with all Victorian sport clubs are invited to attend itsworkshops and exhibition aimed at club committee members, managers and anyone involved in building or growing local sports clubs.

Over 100 clubs are attending representing over 26 sports - from football and cricket to dragon boating and fencing.

VicHealth, revolutioniseSport, Play By the Rules, Sports Community and the Regional Sports Network Victoria are among the the Expo's 30 partners and the e event is shaping up to be a win for sport in Melbourne, with plans for the Expo to travel right around Australia in coming years.

The Sports Club Management Expo is being staged at the State Library of Victoria.
