World renowned crowd management expert to address Sydney seminar

Professor Chris Kemp, a world renowned expert in crowd management and science, will join a group of leading crowd and safety management experts at an upcoming Seminar in Sydney.

To be held on 2nd and 3rd September, the Crowd Science, Dynamics, Psychology and Management Seminar will be addressed by notable speakers with extensive experience of managing crowds here in Australia and around the world. Modern methodologies of crowd management and safety strategies will be introduced to delegates while bringing to the forefront the complexities that surround crowd management and the need for planning.

The Seminar is designed for those who plan for, and manage, public safety at indoor and outdoor events with mass crowd gatherings, or others who represent organisations with a significant stakeholder input to the safety planning and management process of crowds at other locations where crowds frequent.

The inspiration for this event has stemmed from the mass crowd gatherings, which are becoming far more frequent in Australia. These gatherings include live music concerts, sporting events, gatherings at transport terminals, protests and demonstrations, retail events such as Boxing Day sale as well as huge free events such as Vivid Sydney and New Year’s Eve celebrations in major population centres.

The Seminar is backed by event security and crowd management consultancy, Reddawn Australia, who provide security services for Stereosonic Sydney, Cirque de Soleil, Wet’n’Wild Sydney and other major events throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Introducing the event, Reddawn Chief Executive Simon Auston explains “this seminar will provide major event organisers and others responsible for crowd safety, with a better understanding of the moral, legal and financial elements of managing mass crowds with a view of making crowded spaces safer for all attending.”

The Crowd Science, Dynamics, Psychology and Management Seminar is being held at Sydney’s Four Seasons Hotel.
