WorkSafe Victoria continues to support country AFL through 2024 funding program

All AFL Victoria country football and netball clubs are once again eligible to benefit from the WorkSafe Club Safety Fund, which returns in 2024.

Country football clubs affiliated with WorkSafe AFL Victoria Country can apply for grants of up to $5,000 per application.

WorkSafe has been proudly supporting AFL in country Victoria since 2002 and the WorkSafe Club Safety fund has been a major component of that support.

Since 2002, more than 324 community clubs have received funding through the program.

The WorkSafe Club Safety Fund is set up to provide financial assistance to country football and netball clubs to make improvements to the safety of their grounds or provide added safety for players, volunteers and spectators.

Commenting on the funding, WorkSafe Victoria Executive Director Health and Safety, Sam Jenkin advised “WorkSafe is dedicated to creating a culture of safety within local football and netball clubs, which we know are the lifeblood of regional communities across Victoria.

“We are proud to be able to provide support through the WorkSafe Club Safety Fund, ensuring football and netball clubs have the resources they need to keep their players, members and communities safe.”

Greg Madigan, Head of AFL Victoria, added “WorkSafe has been a long-standing support of country footy in Victoria and I thank them for continuing with the WorkSafe Club Safety Fund, which provides considerable benefit to so many regional clubs and communities.

“Footy clubs are often the heartbeat of local communities and WorkSafe's support helps to ensure safety of players, coaches, supporters and volunteers who are the foundation of these clubs.”

All clubs applying must provide evidence that a grant is needed to improve the safety of their grounds and surrounding buildings.

Applications are now open and close on Wednesday 10th July.
