The inaugural Great Ocean Road Womens Surf Fest presented by Ghanda will showcase women in surfing as over 200 women and girls descend on Gadubanud Country this weekend 7th and 8th December at the Lorne Foreshore.
The Great Ocean Road Womens Surf Fest presented by Ghanda is an all-inclusive surfing festival celebrating everything about women’s surfing. The festival will provide opportunities for surfers from all backgrounds and experience to come together and celebrate their love for surfing and the ocean.
Surfing Victoria General Manager Elley Harrison enthused “we are truly excited to be hosting the first every Great Ocean Road Womens Surf Fest presented by Ghanda this weekend.
“The festival will have something for everyone, with free surf lessons, market stalls, workshops, surf competition and more. We hope to see women and girls from all across the state come and get involved in what should be a fun weekend in Lorne.”
Highlights across the weekend include surfing workshops and an exciting evening of entertainment at the Lorne Cinema.
Led by local surf camp provider Honu Honi Surf Camps, Beach Yoga sessions will start each day before a series of insightful workshops covering off topics including Communication in the Water, Surf Forecasting and how the hormone cycle impacts surfing and overall sporting performance.
On Saturday evening, the Lorne Cinema will host 10x Bells Champion and local legend Gail Couper being interviewed for a live podcast recording of Waterpeople, detailing Gails life and journey as a surfer. This will be punctuated by the screening of BELINDA, a film about surfer and environmentalist Belinda Baggs along with a Q&A with Belinda herself.
Whether you're new to the waves or a seasoned surfer, this festival is about empowering women to embrace the ocean and make lasting memories.
