Woman sentenced for Brisbane gym thefts
A woman caught stealing the belongings of exercisers at multiple fitness clubs in south east Queensland has been sentenced to a three year prison term in the Southport District Court.
Facing the Court on Wednesday, Letiesha Wilson, aged 22, pleaded guilty to 35 charges including 13 instances.
Wilson entered the gyms under the guise of exercising but instead stole thousands of dollars worth of items from members, including the keys to one victim’s car which she drove off in.
One victim who noticed Wilson in the gym advised “her gym attire suggested working out, but really her intentions were to steal people's possessions.”
The Nine network’s A Current Affair started investigating Wilson's gym activities in mid 2022 ago before she was ultimately arrested on the Gold Coast and charged with more than 60 offences.
Wilson has been in custody ever since and this week appeared in the District Court where it was revealed she has already been sentenced 14 times in the Magistrates Court for 195 offences.
Sentenced to three years jail, Wilson was eligible for immediate parole and was released.
