Woman arrested after spitting on lifeguard at Milne Bay Aquatic Centre
Toowoomba Regional Council has released video showing a disgruntled member of the public spitting on a lifeguard after she was denied entry to the Milne Bay Aquatic Centre.
Captured by CCTV, the incident began with a male lifeguard refusing the woman entry to the pool because she was intoxicated.
She becomes aggressive before spitting on the lifeguard’s face and then pushing through a barrier, to gain entry.
After she again refused to adhere to the lifeguard’s directions, Queensland Police were called and they escorted the woman out of the Centre.
The video was released and posted on the Council's Facebook page as part of an ongoing campaign by the Council to reduce the frequency of abuse suffered by workers.
A Council spokesperson explained “unfortunately, over recent years, our people have been subjected to almost 200 incidents of abuse or harassment from members of the public.
“Our people are our greatest asset, and they have a right to do their work free from intimidation, abuse and threats, regardless of what job they’re performing.”
