Western Australian Government's KidSport program welcomes Scouts and Girl Guides
The Western Australian Government's KidSport program will now include Girl Guides and Scouts clubs in recognition of the vital role of organisations like Scouts WA and Girl Guides WA in supporting youth development, outdoor education and inclusive participation across Western Australia.
Programs like Scouts and Girl Guides provide young people with opportunities to build leadership and resilience, and establish friendships - essential qualities that support growth well beyond childhood.
From 1st July 2025, eligible families will be able to use their KidSport vouchers to cover registration fees for Scouts and Girl Guides, in addition to local sporting clubs.
The move also ensures more choice for KidSport families, especially in areas with limited community sport options.
KidSport now offers access to 69 different activities across more than 2,000 approved clubs throughout WA. Families can apply for up to $300 per eligible child each calendar year, which can go towards club fees and essential equipment and uniforms.
Girl Guides WA Executive Officer Ghylène Palmer noted "By making Guiding more accessible, programs like KidSport ensure that all girls, regardless of their economic background, can participate and benefit from enriching experiences.
"Girl Guides offers valuable opportunities for skill development in leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving, which are essential for future success.
"We welcome the WA Government's decision to include Girl Guides in KidSport and look forward to seeing more girls join our Guiding community."
