Western Australian Government opens EOI for construction partners to deliver Stage 1 of Malaga Sports Precinct
The Malaga Sports Precinct, strategically located adjacent to the new Malaga METRONET station and close to the Perth Film Studios, is a landmark project looking to transform sporting infrastructure in Perth's growing north-eastern corridor.
The Western Australian Government has today opened Expressions of Interest (EOI) for construction partners to deliver Stage 1 of the Malaga Sports Precinct.
An investment of $20 million has been committed to finalise concept design and commence site investigations, to ensure the precinct meets the long-term needs of the community.
Stage 1 of the precinct is set to deliver dedicated purpose-built facilities for a variety of sporting codes, including rugby league, rugby union and AFL.
The Malaga Sports Precinct will leverage the government's significant transport infrastructure investment to create a connected sporting hub, accessible via public transport, from across the metropolitan area.
The EOI process will identify suitably qualified construction partners to progress to the formal tender stage.
WA Sport and Recreation Minister Rita Saffioti notes "Stage 1 of the Malaga Sports Precinct will deliver critical infrastructure and incredible facilities for both professional athletes and grassroots community sport.
"This represents a strategic investment in our sporting future - we're not just building infrastructure; we're creating high performance facilities and pathways for the next generation of Western Australian athletes.
"This project capitalises on the WA Government's significant METRONET investment, while creating world-class sporting infrastructure in Perth's fastest-growing corridor, supporting our State's growing population and sporting aspirations."
