Weather causes postponement of Laservision’s Enchanted Forest experience
Laservision’s award-winning storytelling and lightshow experience ‘The Enchanted Forest’, scheduled to return to transform Blackbutt Forest Reserve, Shellharbour from Friday 17th May has been postponed for a week following recent heavy rain and more predicted rain over the coming days.
The start of The Enchanted Forest experience will now be Friday 24th May and will run until 9th June.
Event organisers have inspected the Blackbutt Forest site and deemed it unsuitable for vehicle access. The team is unable to get the necessary equipment on site without significantly impacting the waterlogged terrain.
Last year, The Enchanted Forest was a runaway success, delighting over 66,000 attendees and receiving 'Best Small Regional Event' at the Australian Event Awards.
Attendees at this year's experience will follow an immersive trail through the forest, where the new theme, 'Lost Astronaut', will be brought to life by Laservision's skilled creative and installation teams.
Laservision Chief EXecutive Shannon Brooks said the delayed start to the award-winning storytelling and lightshow experience was unfortunate but unavoidable and shared "we are working to make the necessary changes to schedule. We are in contact with customers who have purchased tickets for the affected week.”
Shellharbour City Mayor Chris Homer said despite the delay, the community was looking forward to the Enchanted Forest returning to the city and added "we know how much people have been looking forward to The Enchanted Forest.
"But we are excited for this year's event, the spectacular Luna Light Journey, which has been slightly delayed due to the rain.
"Unfortunately, we can't control Mother Nature."
The family-friendly event is presented by Laservision in partnership with Shellharbour City Council.
Ticket holders for sessions between 17th and 23rd May will be contacted by Laservision to reschedule their booking.
