Water infrastructure upgrade commences at Blacktown International Sportspark

Blacktown City Council has advised that upgrading of water supply infrastructure servicing the Blacktown International Sportspark at Rooty Hill has commenced.

The project involves a major upgrade of the Eastern Road water main that services the International Sportspark.

Blacktown City Mayor Tony Bleasdale notes “The infrastructure upgrade will not only benefit sporting organisations that currently utilise the Sportspark, but also provide water security for some massive development at the site.”

Currently the Blacktown International Sportspark is home to the Western Sydney Wanderers’ ‘Centre of Football’ training and administration headquarters, Softball NSW, Baseball NSW, Super 6 High Performance Centre, as well as nationally-accredited facilities for AFL, cricket and athletics.

The water main upgrade also paves the way for future development in the Sportspark, headed by the $100 million International Centre of Training Excellence (ICTE).

The Centre will be a world leading multisport high performance, education and sports medicine facility that will be available to the whole community and is scheduled to open in late 2022.

Both the ICTE and the Wanderers’ Centre of Football are planned to incorporate accommodation facilities.

Mayor Bleasdale adds “It’s great to see our Sportspark continue to evolve and upgrade its facilities.

“In the near future, the ICTE project will be the centrepiece of the Blacktown International Sportspark, and will cement Blacktown City as the sporting capital of Western Sydney”
