VTIC appoints two new skills-based directors
Having finalised its elected Board appointments at its 2024 Annual General Meeting in October last year, the Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC) has announced of the appointment of the two remaining Board-appointed skills-based positions for the 2025 calendar year.
Just prior to year-end, the Board of VTI Ltd considered and endorsed the appointment of Katrina McKenzie and Sara Quon to its the Board.
VTIC advised “both are names well-known for their significant contributions to our industry over many years, across both metro Melbourne and regional Victoria.”
Katrina McKenzie
Katrina McKenzie is an accomplished executive and board leader with extensive governance experience and a strong focus on risk management, strategic communication, and delivering outcomes for diverse stakeholders.
She was the General Manager City Economy and Activation at the City of Melbourne from 2016 to2023 and has a track record of leading organisational responses to complex economic and regulatory challenges, navigating evolving customer, ICT and community expectations with agility and foresight.
A Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and holding a Master of Innovation and Service Management, Katrina was recognised in the Top 50 Public Sector Women in 2022.
Sara Quon
Sara Quon has been the Chief Executive of Ballarat’s Sovereign Hill Museums Association since 2019. She was the inaugural Chief Executive of Tourism North East, the regional tourism board for the Victorian High Country and has worked in senior roles in major events, food export, innovation and strategy, both in Australia and internationally.
She sits on the board of the Committee for Ballarat and the Executive of the Council of Australasian Museum Directors. She was previously a board member of Visit Victoria, Outdoors Victoria and HotHouse Theatre and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
These latest additions to the Board of VTI Ltd, in conjunction with the appointment of Andre Jacques and Leesa Merrett as newly-elected Board Directors, deliver the full complement of Directors under the VTI Ltd Constitution, with five Elected and four Board-appointed Directors.
The new Chair of VTI Ltd, Scott Chapman AM, said he was looking forward to working with such a high calibre of industry professionals, commenting “as we navigate the challenges ahead for our industry in seeking to grow the performance and contribution of the visitor economy in this state, VTIC is well-positioned with such a seasoned and experienced Board to assist Management in shaping our strategic direction over the next three years.
