Viva Leisure looks to continue fitness club expansion through 2019
Following sustained growth over recent years, Viva Leisure, Australia’s fastest growing fitness club owner, is to continue its expansion through 2019 with 17 new locations already committed to open during the year.
The privately owned Canberra-based group currently have 24 operational clubs within their portfolio, with this year’s early projections set to see that number grow to over 40.
Of the 17 locations, six are scheduled to be part of a new concept roll out, hiit republic, Viva’s soon to be launched boutique functional fitness division.
Expanding on its Psycle Life boutique cycling studio, a second Psycle Life location will open it’s doors in 2019, with the remaining facilities being Viva’s primary health club brand, Club Lime.
The majority of the expansion is in the ACT with regional NSW also part of the committed sites.
Outlining the group’s growth plans, Viva Leisure Chief Executive, Harry Konstantinou (pictured) stated “we will have over 40 operational locations, all company owned, within the next six months.
“In addition, we are in discussions for a couple of acquisitions we are looking to bring into our portfolio within the next few months”.
“Viva’s unique model of operating in all sectors of the industry means we will continue to expand on our boutique offerings - Psycle Life and hiit republic, express, standard and big box locations, as well as our aquatic facilities, with Club Lime at the Australian National University opening in early February 2019 which will include two indoor pools and learn to swim programs and services.”
Among individual club owners, Viva rates itself as the second largest player in the Australian market, and the fastest growing.
While franchise operators are also continuing to expand, all of Viva’s locations are company owned, controlled and managed.
Konstantinou adds “if our roll out goes to schedule, we expect to be operating or have committed to nearly 50 locations by the end of 2019.”
