Visitor amenities enhanced at Tasmania’s Freycinet National Park

New toilet amenities installed at the northern end of Wineglass Bay will help to protect the sensitive natural and cultural values while improving the visitor experience at Tasmania’s Freycinet National Park.

The Tasmanian Government is investing an additional $3 million annually into parks and reserves to ensure the visitor experience matches expectation, while protecting the environment

The new building is ‘low-key’ and is not visible from the popular Wineglass Bay lookout.

Designed in-house by Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service engineers, the structure sits discreetly within the environment. Construction was completed by Coles Bay’s East Coast Constructions Tas.

The high-capacity pod system fully captures all waste which will be flown out and disposed of at a sewage treatment plant and has been designed to reduce the frequency of helicopter fly-outs.

The project was funded through the Tasmanian Government Tourism Infrastructure in Parks (TIIP) program and the Improving Visitor Infrastructure Program.
