Village Roadshow Theme Parks Reveals New Attractions
Village Roadshow Theme Parks have unveiled plans for three new major attractions for their Sea World and Wet'n'Wild Water World theme parks for 2010.
Sea World's new attractions will include a new interactive adventure zone, 'Castaway Bay', due to open in September and the Penguin Encounter animal exhibit, featuring King and Gentoo Penguins, opening for the Christmas holidays.
Wet'n'Wild's new major water attraction, the widely anticipated AquaLoop looping waterslides will also open in September.
The $6 million Castaway Bay adventure precinct will cater to children and adults and feature a new themed boat ride, 'Battle Sails'; the 'Sky fortress' tree house featuring five different levels, rope bridges and tunnels; and the 12 metre high 'Sky climb' ropes course
Sea World's Penguin Encounter exhibit will feature a new frozen world which will be home to the world's second largest penguin species, the King penguin, as well as the agile Gentoo penguin, with its distinctive bright red bill and long tail. The spectacular new exhibit will feature icy rock formations and a crystal clear pool, with both elevated and underwater viewing areas.
The Penguin Encounter will contain up to 36 birds on an exhibit of 90 metre2 and with an pool of 220,000 litre. Air temperature in the exhibit will be from -1°C to +5°C while water temperature will range from 5°C to 9°C.
Wet'n'Wild Water World's AquaLoop will be the first ride of its kind in Australia with four full looping slides.
Supplied by the Canadian manufacturer WhiteWater West, the new ride was the focus of a naming competition with the winner suggesting AquaLoop as the name for the new attraction.
The 17 metre high ride begins when the rider plummets through a trap door at their feet, accelerating into a massive vertical free fall drop and then up into a looping slide â reaching speeds of up to 60 kilometres per hour.
